Rob Kearney Joins Mat Fraser's HWPO Training To Lead Strength-Focused Programming – BarBend

Five-time Fittest Man on Earth® Mat Fraser‘s HWPO Training has added another premiere athlete to its ranks. World’s Strongest Man (WSM) competitor Rob Kearney will lead HWPO Strong, a strength-focused program, available on the HWPO app on July 18, 2022.
HWPO Strong, available for $40 per month, was designed by the 5’10” tall, 285-pound Kearney to help participants improve their max lifts in the squat, deadlift, and bench press. Each 90-minute to two-hour training session in the HWPO Strong program includes:
Additionally, two optional conditioning days are included each week — eight primary lifts per week on the four-day training week. The requisite equipment to perform Kearney’s programming is a barbell, weight plates, a squat rack, a weight bench, dumbbells, and resistance bands. On July 11, 2022, Kearney and Fraser sat together for a round of 21 questions on Fraser’s YouTube channel to introduce Kearney to HWPO’s audience. Check it out below:

Although Kearney is one of the world’s premiere strongmen, he got his start in the sport through CrossFit training at age 17 in 2009. It was then he learned how to properly perform various barbell movements, including his deadlift of 506 pounds in his coach’s CrossFit box.
Kearney entered his first strongman contest that same year with no strongman-specific training to a last-place finish. However, it ignited his passion for the strongman and powerlifting. Since 2012, Kearney has been primarily dedicated solely to strongman. Be has competed at the WSM competition in 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2022, is a previous American log lift record holder, and won the 2019 Arnold Strongman Australia.
Kearney consumes 5,000 calories daily and utilizes a sauna to help with recovery. He believes having a purpose and fun in the gym is the ideal way to avoid burnout — knowing the goal when entering the gym will pay dividends with consistency over time and a healthier mindset.
Ninety percent of the time, focus on your goals; work your ass off.
Small incremental goals over a decade led Kearney from losing his first eight strongman shows to becoming one of the top strongmen on the planet. Kearney designed HWPO Strong to give participants a better overall strength base garnered from a lot of volume, which builds to lifting heavy every day after 12 weeks.

Fraser still leads the overall program design for HWPO. With Matt O’Keefe as HWPO’s CEO, the app will add further specializations in addition to HWPO Strong, though dates and specifics are not yet known. Pre-registrations for HWPO Strong opened on July 3, 2022, via www.hwpotraining.com.
