Library links – Fall programming resumes – Airdrie Echo

Thanks to the tilt of the Earth, Winter is one of those inevitable events on this planet.

Whether we get the lovely and long fall that we’ve had this year, or, for those who remember, the Snowtember fall of 2019, the season of white, fluffy stuff does come.

Here at Airdrie Public Library (APL), we also have inevitable seasons, such as the second half of our Fall programming.

Monday, Oct. 31, will see the launch of our preschool and after school programs, featuring familiar favourites and new additions.

For preschoolers, we have a monthly program called Community Helpers.

Learn about a different Airdrie helper, such as pharmacists, nurses, and others through stories and a special craft.

The after-school crowd has a new program called Cultural Creations, where ages 6-13 explore their creative side by making crafts from diverse cultures.

After a two-year hiatus, Reading Buddies returns for Grades 2 to 4.

New and struggling readers, called Little Buddies, are partnered with teen volunteers, called Big Buddies, to work on reading, word games, and receive one-on-one support.

Of course, as we enter the holiday season, there will be plenty of opportunities to celebrate at APL.

Look for Holiday Stuffy Sleepover, where kids bring their favourite stuffy to the library and leave them over night.

While there, our elves, otherwise known as our very cool teen volunteers, will take pictures of them playing and getting ready for a sleepover.

Snowflake Follies, our annual winter wonderland of songs, stories, and crafts returns in-person this fall.

The Celebrate the Holidays and Holiday Cards events offer patrons the chance to explore holiday crafts.

Both teens and adults will be able to explore virtual reality through the APL’s Oculus 2 headsets and our Makerspace Exploration continues to highlight all things tech, from robotics to 3D printing.

Those with differing abilities will have Creative Connections for the Tall to provide a creative outlet.
