Sheamus isn’t actually injured and has a very sound reason for not being a part of WWE SmackDown this week.
During last week's episode of WWE SmackDown, Sheamus was written off of programming. Suffering an injury at the hands of The Bloodline, Sami Zayn, The USOs and Solo Sikoa viciously attacked his shoulder and he won't be on SmackDown this week. There's a logical reason WWE went this direction.
According to PWInsider.com (h/t Subhojeet Mukherjee of Ringside News), Sheamus requested time off to get married this weekend. His ceremony was on Friday and it explains why he and Drew McIntyre aren't being advertised for Friday's show. Sheamus is obviously busy and Drew is a close friend of The Celtic Warrior and is expected to be in attendance for the ceremony. Reports are that he's Sheamus' best man.
It's not clear how many other WWE stars are in attendance but the assumption is that there will be more than just Drew there and anyone missing from SmackDown might have been on the guest list. Miro from AEW was also in the wedding party.
It is unclear how long Sheamus will be out but the "shoulder injury" gives WWE all the time they need to pull him off of programming. Once he's decided he's taken enough time off, he can return because his injury isn't legitimate and he's not resting a real-life injury. His absence is strictly due to a request for personal time.
It also hasn't slowed the push of the Brawling Brutes group as they are slated to battle in tag team action this Friday.
A WWE veteran, Sheamus has been a reliable soldier for the company for years, excelling in every role he's been asked to fill. He's publicly said he feels rejuvenated being in this new faction and he's loving every minute of it. There's no concern he won't be back.
This is simply WWE doing the right thing and giving the star some time to do what's important in his personal life.
Congratulations to WWE superstar Sheamus and his wife Isabella.
